What is Osama telling us in the latest tape?
A sentence begins "The incidents that have taken place since the raid on New York and Washington" and then he gives details of these incidents including the "Bali explosions" and the "operation in Moscow." And continues "are only reactions and reciprocal actions." These words are very important because they are associated with his earlier sentence "Reciprocal treatment is part of justice."
Can anyone spot the significance of these words? He specifically speaks of these "incidents" and not the "raid" on New York and Washington." So what you may ask is his justification for these "raids". He has given the purpose of the "incidents" but not this raid. Why did he say this unless he had no purpose to have carried out the raid?
You will observe also that he uses the raid on New York and Washington as a starting point to give the time frame for the "incidents" that he goes on to detail. This is a strange if his kinfolk were involved in it because it should have been "only a reaction and reciprocal action" but he has not stated it to be such.
In addition, the nearest he gets to referring to the bombing of Afghanistan is the "killing of our people in weddings" whereas we are told that over 2000 civilians were killed not to mention members of al-Qaida and the Taliban.
Osama also makes it clear that the British and Australians were the target in the Bali night club and yet the main suspect is reported to have said that the team were disappointed that they were not Americans. However, this may be due to the perpretrators being given intentionally, false information.
Finally, Osama asks "What do your governments [of Britain, France, Italy, Canada, Germany and Australia] want from their alliance with America in attacking us in Afghanistan." He does not seem to have the answer and neither, curiously is he asking the question in relation to Iraq. We don’t know of course whether the whole of the tape has been published but it is curious why he speaks of "attacking" in the present tense and also the "Bali explosions" which is far more recent.
My impression of the published tape allegidly of Osama Bin Laden is that his main purpose is an "eye for an eye" - in our words to see justice be done and the raid on New York and Washington is not part of that purpose.
